Power Vs. Freedom;
And the
Paralysis of the Wicked

They have acquired power.

But only because, from a very early age, they have instinctively understood that there are certain perceptions of (a contrived) reality that are NOT to be doubted.

That there are certain assumptions—cultural, political, economic, scientific, medical, etc.—that are NOT to be questioned.

That there are certain theological doctrines which are NOT to be contradicted; or even so much as challenged.

And, MOST importantly, that there are certain people who are NOT to be offended.

And, in fear, they have followed these rules for their entire lives for the purpose of acquiring and retaining POWER.

So, when confronted with the Truth—when confronted with information which destroys perceptions which are never to be DOUBTED; which violates assumptions which are NOT to be questioned; which vitiates theological doctrines which have never been CHALLENGED...

And which, even WORSE, offends precisely everyone who should NOT be offended in the pursuit, acquisition and retention of POWER

How do they respond?

With paralysis.

They are paralyzed by fear.

Fearing the loss of their POWER.

The power that they have achieved by sacrificing their FREEDOM.

A sacrifice which must NOT have been in vain.

To be confronted with the Truth requires a behavior that they have NEVER exercised their entire life.

A behavior beyond fear.

So, from the editor of the local newspaper, religious periodical, or theological journal to the CEO of an international media empire...

From the local rabbi, priest, or imam, to the Chief Rabbis, the Pope, or the Chairman of Theology at Al Azhar University...

They are ALL paralyzed by FEAR.

The fear of losing the POWER for which they have sacrificed their FREEDOM.

Thus, they would much rather the annihilation of human civilization than LOSE the POWER for which they have sacrificed their freedom...

They would much rather the annihilation of human civilization than be FORCED to realize that the possession of that POWER is insufficient to COMPENSATE for the freedom that they so WITLESSLY sacrificed.

As stated by Jesus, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but suffer the loss of his soul?”
