Commentary On the
Self-Defining Hebrew Translation
of
Genesis 15:12 & 17

Now as the sun was setting Abram fell into a deep sleep, and terror seized him.”

When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, there appeared a smoking furnace and a firebrand that went between the halves.”

Chapter 15, verse 12 & 17 of Genesis in the Jerusalem Bible

v12 And then the sun began to dim. Therefore Abram fell down in terror. And he observed what begin to manifest, a great darkness which was increasing, therefore continuing to disperse.”

v17 And so the sun started to shine again. And Dusk came. And he observed to advance a fire pot of smoke and forward it extended to loose over, to establish a pass over between the strips, the (ones) to originate (the covenant).”

Self-Defining Hebrew translation of Chapter 15, verses 12 & 17 of Genesis
(See: http://thechronicleproject.org/PDF1/newslettermain.pdf )

In my Vision, when he broke the Sixth Seal...the sun went as black as coarse sackcloth...”

Chapter 6, verse 12 of the Revelation of John

As previously mentioned, the opening of the Sixth Seal of the Revelation of John refers to the annihilation of the ‘fallen’ consciousness of the “self” and the ‘thinker’—referred to by the Jewish mystics as the “shattering of the vessels”; an experience which is accompanied by a “great darkness” and a boundless, debilitating, paralyzing “terror” (“Abram fell down”; see, also, Chapter 10, verse 9 of the Book of Daniel and Chapter 1, verse 17 of the Revelation of John):

whereas the opening of the Seventh Seal in the Revelation of John:

refers to the receiving of the Vision of the “Son of man” (referred to in Chapter 3, verse 24 of Genesis as the “Tree of Life”; in the Book of Daniel, the Gospels and the Revelation of John as the Vision of the “Son of man”; and, in the Quran, as the “sidrah tree” and the “Night Journey”); typically associated with ‘clouds’, ‘fire’, ‘thunder’, the ‘sounding of trumpets’, and an ‘earthquake’; all such terms describing one or another aspect of the Vision itself. (See also, for example, Chapter 19, verses 16-19 of Exodus; which signifies a space-time manifestation of these aspects of the Vision of the “Son of man”.)

With regards to Chapter 15, verses 12 & 17 of Genesis, then, the research on Self-Defining Hebrew insists that Abram did not ‘fall asleep’ at all; but, rather, that these passages are, instead, a description of an actual event in the space-time reality; that is, a 9-seconds-long hybrid solar eclipse which occurred on March 5, 1744 (or 1743?) B.C.:

Even more important, however, is that there is a very direct parallel between what is recorded in these verses of Genesis and what is referred to as the ‘opening of the Sixth Seal’ in Chapter 6, verse 12 of the Revelation of John:

“In my Vision, when he broke the Sixth Seal...the sun went as black as coarse sackcloth...”

In other words, the Torah is not being repetitious or redundant by stating: “When the sun had set and darkness had fallen...”.

Darkness being, of course, a widely-known consequence of the ‘setting of the sun’, the darkness that is specifically
mentioned here refers, instead, to the ‘psychological’ darkness of the ‘total eclipse’ (one of the archetypes of Jungian psychology) of the normal human personality; that is, the annihilation of the consciousness of the “self” and ‘thinker’ which must, necessarily, precede the Revelation of Truth; in this case, the Revelation of the Covenant.

Thus, what is described in the next phrase of
Genesis 15, verse 17: “...there appeared a smoking furnace and a firebrand...” is clearly associated with the Revelation of Knowledge; and, as such, is, most likely, a rudimentary description of certain visual aspects of the Vision which would later be referred to as the Vision of the “Son of man”.

These passages from Chapter 15, verses 12 & 17 of Genesis, then, clearly describe the foundational Revelation of all three monotheistic religions—the Revelation of the Covenant that was established between the Creator and Abram through his descendants Isaac and Israel (a Revelation which, by the way, is not, in any way, contradicted by—but, instead, validated by—the Revelations in the Quran).

And, while these passages immediately precede Chapter 16 of Genesis—which relates the birth and the naming of Ishmael, the Promise made by the Creator to Hagar, and the Vision she received—their translation by Self-Defining Hebrew clearly establishes a parallel with the much more detailed Knowledge Revealed through the Vision of the “Son of man” to the apostle John some 1800 years later.
